The earth would not accept the apostate
Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, said: A man who had acted as secretary to the Prophet, God's blessings and peace be upon him, apostatized from Islam and attached himself to the polytheists, so the Prophet, may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him, said, "The earth will not accept him."
Abu Talha, may Allah be pleased with him, told me he came to the land in which the mad died and found him cast on the surface of the ground. He asked the reason and was told by the people that they had buried him several times, but that the earth would not accept him. - (Bukhari and Muslim)
